IMIDRO: Over 4.3m tons of steel ingot output in the first quarter
(Minews) - Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation (IMIDRO) said on Monday that Iranian steel producers raised their steel ingot output to 4,317,038 tons in the first three months of the year from 4,292,910 tons in the preceding period.

Iran is the 14th steel producer among 65 countries, being major steel maker in the region.

Iran's crude steel production reached as high as 16.6 million tons in 2014 from 15.5 million tons in 2013, showing seven percent growth year long.

According to IMIDRO Public Relations Department, steel makers produced as much as 1,432,525 tons of steel ingot in Khordad, the third month in Iranian year, showing 1.6 percent growth compared to the output in the same period the previous year, which was 1,410,060 tons.

Statistics indicate that steel ingot production showed a growth of 24,128 tons in the first three months of the year. In the first three months of this year, 4,086,205 tons of varying kinds of steel products were marketed.

According to Ministry of Industries, Mines and Trade, last year, 16.9 million tons of steel products, including beams, iron rod, pipes, auto sheet, hot roll, steel coil, ingot and wide sheet, were produced, showing more than two percent increase compared to the previous year's output of 16.6 million tons.

It said that it planned crude steel production to hit the target of 18 million tons and that of steel products reaching 19 million tons. The figures showed 23.9 percent and 21.5 percent increase respectively in the first three months of the current year compared to the target set for the period.
